Fish, Crinoids
If oceanic fish fossils are found from below where land animal fossils have already been, it tells us that at some time in the remote history the area was part of an ocean or some lake over there. For example Fossil Butte National Monument in Lincoln County, Wyoming is situated in an area that is known as Fossil Lake - called so because of very nicely preserved oceanic fossils found in a great number in the area.
Crinoids are marine animals in the class Crinoidea of the echinoderms. They live both in shallow as well as in the deepest waters on the earth. Fossil crinoids attach themselves to floating driftwood and the largest of them on record had a stem that was 40 m in length.
